This research aims to determine the factors that cause abuse by parents towards their children and to determine the countermeasures carried out by the Police to minimize criminal acts of abuse by parents towards their children.The research method used in this research is a type of empirical legal research, namely legal research that examines the implementation of statutory regulationsin the reality of implementing these statutory regulations in the field.In this research the author found that; 1) the cause of criminal acts of abuse by parents against their children is caused by internal factors of domestic conflict between the parentsof children who are victims of violence, as well as psychological factors of the parents' temperament. 2) the efforts made by the police to overcome acts of physical violence committed by parents against their children in the jurisdiction of the GorontaloCity Police, namely with preventive efforts in the form of legal education which aims to create a society that is aware and obedient to the law, especially regarding the education patterns of parents towards their children. , as well as repressive effortscarried out by means of law enforcement against perpetrators of criminal acts. From the results of this research, the author recommends that the government further improve efforts to protect children and take action as well as form cooperation with the community in preventing violence against children.
