This study aims to determine the role of Bawaslu in preventing money politics in 2019 oflegislative elections in Gorontalo City and to overcome money politics by Bawaslu in2019 of legislative elections in Gorontalo City.This study uses normative legal research that focus on using normative case studies inthe form of legal behavior products. The main point of this study is conceptualized asthe norms or rules that apply in the society and become a reference for everyone’sbehavior. The result of the study shows that Bawaslu’s role in 2019 regional elections was carriedout in accordance with Law No. 15 of 2011 concerning General Election Organizers. Ithas been proven by the money politics violations that occurred in 2019 particularly inGorontalo where there were acts of promising and/or giving money or other materials toinfluence the holding of elections and/or elections in a structured, systematic andmassive manner. Additionally, the obstacles faced by the Bawaslu of Gorontalo City inGeneral Legislative Election related to the preventing money politics, namely: Lack ofpublic awareness of political prohibitions and regulatory gaps which cause legalsubjects to escape the trap of the law. As a result, this study becomes a reference tothe all government officials under the auspices of the government of Gorontalo City,such as KPU and others government officials in order to increase the cooperation withthe Bawaslu of Gorontalo City and to increase the Bawaslu’s role in enforcing KPUregulations.
